About the Role
Our leading Financial Services team is busier than ever, from helping our clients to develop new products and services to assisting them with significant regulatory, transactional and/or operational change projects. There promises to be even more work over the next few years as the UK regulatory landscape continues to change, and new, innovative products and services are launched. For example, the emergence of new Fintech solutions is changing how financial institutions and their clients and service providers operate, and challenging regulators in how to ensure that they supervise those institutions appropriately. Specialist transactional work will be driven by changes in regulatory capital requirements and outsourcing and operational risk requirements, as well as continued market consolidation and rationalisation. With CMS’s specialist regulatory expertise and large international footprint, we are well placed to help our clients deal with whatever the future holds.
As a result, the team is now looking to expand at all levels. In particular, we are looking for a driven, commercially aware Associate who wants to specialise in non-contentious regulatory and/or specialist transactional work for financial institutions.
This role promises a rich variety of work, with opportunities to work in the asset management, funds, insurance, banking, crypto and consumer credit sectors. Day to day work includes advising on new product design and distribution, cross border business, material outsourcing arrangements, strategic restructurings, perimeter guidance, authorisation and conduct of business requirements, corporate governance, regulatory capital requirements, client money and assets, insider dealing and market abuse, anti-money laundering/financial crime, as well as drafting and negotiating all associated documentation, and assisting with the regulatory aspects of mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and joint ventures.
About You
If you have 2-3 years of relevant work experience (gained from a top tier law firm or from a recognised financial institution), then we would love to hear from you.
To be successful in this role, candidates will have solid experience of carrying out financial services regulatory and/or transactional work for financial institutions (including those with a regulated funds or outsourcing background).
