We are driven by technology and readily embrace the possibilities it opens up for developing new and better ways of delivering legal services. Our bold approach to a changing future ensures that we nurture our employees and recruit top talent.

About the role

The role will give exposure to the full spectrum of areas in this sector, including commercial, regulatory, M&A and projects work. It will also involve advising in other regulated utility sectors such as gas and water.

The work regularly involves advising a broad range of some of the world’s leading energy companies, independent developers and project financiers on some of the highest value and most innovative transactions and projects in the UK and internationally as well as advising sectoral clients on their day-to-day regulatory and commercial matters. Through this work, and by working alongside a highly experienced and specialised team, you will gain a deeper understanding of the legal, industry and commercial arrangements across the power and renewables sector and become a recognised sector expert.

About you

The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer ideally with 4 to 8 years’ experience in the energy sector from a corporate, construction or commercial background.  You will have an excellent professional track record within a large law firm and have experience in handling high value clients in major blue chip companies.

The role requires excellent analytical and drafting skills, a commitment to learning about the intricacies of the power and renewables sectors, a willingness to travel, and the ability to understand the economic, technical and financial context within which the legal and regulatory advice is provided.

The nature of the work means that the candidate will need to have the ability to work both independently and also, on larger projects and transactions, as part of a cross-disciplinary team. The candidate will also need to be well-organised with strong administration and time management skills and the ability and drive to meet demanding deadlines.
